Initial Church & Ministry Analysis & Evaluation Program
The purpose of the Program is to accurately define the existing realities of the church and its perception within the community in which it resides. The intention is to present a clear snapshot of these realities to the Church/Ministry Leadership with specific recommendations for increased effectiveness and impact. The analysis will include the following profiles:
Congregational Perception
It is generally accepted that the greatest catalyst for church growth is the attitude of the local congregation. Their perception of the programs and ministries of the church can measure the potential for growth and expansion as well as serve as a barometer measuring the general health of the church. Therefore, the first step in the Destiny process of analysis is to survey the congregation through an anonymous questionnaire that is administered in approximately fifteen minutes following a worship service.
Community Perception
A second factor in the effectiveness of a local church is directly related to the way it is viewed by the community. Every public organization that has a history has also developed an image within the community in which it is located. This image can provide clues to how the church fits into the realities of the citizens of the community. Do they view the local church as an option when they are in need? Is it considered as having influence in their lives? Are they even aware that it exists?
The discovery of these facts is of paramount importance to the effectiveness of the strategic plan for the local church. Destiny, therefore, commissions a survey team to interview a cross section of the community. These teams utilize a blend of onsite street survey, phone survey, and letter correspondence sent to specific members of the community. They seek to provide a healthy sampling of the perceptions of the community regarding the church.
The Message of The Church
Destiny consultants will analyze a sampling of the Pastor’s messages spanning his/her tenure in the church. The object of this process will be to review the themes and focuses of the Pastor’s heart as well as examine the consistency of the message with the vision of the house. This along with a sample of the teaching curriculum for each department will assist Destiny in overlaying the message with the vision while looking for consistency.
All printed material and ministry media will be examined as well - brochures, bulletins, visitor kits, advertisements, and other public relations or announcement media materials. This examination is designed to review the corporate message of the church, to analyze the conveyed message, its consistency with the vision of the house, and its harmony with the concept throughout.
Facilities & Effectiveness
The Destiny Consultants will also evaluate the current facilities and grounds in an attempt to make accurate recommendations for deployment of vision and mission goals in the context of facilities. Photographs of the Church and its grounds as well as a complete facility floor plan with room purpose designation will also be required. This packet should also include a city or county map with church location annotated. A brief overview of the development of the community with special attention to any specific sectors that relate directly to the church (for example: new housing developments, commercial construction, schools, etc.).
Worship & Service
The consultants will evaluate worship services from the stand point of the congregation, the leadership, and potential impact on visitors who might come. The scheduling of anonymous visits may be employed to evaluate the procedures involved in visitor relations, congregational receptivity and ministry procedures for follow-up. Three video tapes will be examined from each service in the ministry schedule.
A complete explanation of outside ministries connected to the church as well as in-house ministries will also be evaluated. This should be an inclusive list, a schedule of meeting times, and a brief overview of their current vision and agenda.
Organizational Viability
Finally our administrative, organizational, and management consultants will evaluate the business procedures of the ministry with a special focus on accounting, donations, employee relations, and senior leadership compensation. Attention will also be given to 501(c)(3) non-profit corporate compliance and potential grant funding issues.
The Completed Review
The completed review will be bound into an evaluation document and presented to the designated leadership of the ministry with detailed recommendations. This instrument is extremely useful for strategic planning and visioneering. It provides a complete snapshot of the way your ministry is viewed by the members of your church, people within your community, and your current procedural effectiveness.
After this thorough evaluation, our team of very capable consultants will then recommend the operational, relational, and ministry solutions needed to move your organization forward to fulfilling its vision and ministry objectives.
